Jana Kirschner released her debut album in ´97 under Universal Music. After two years of intensive co-operation with marvellous Slovak musicians, her 2nd studio album V cudzom meste has been released. It was a huge commercial success but brought the academic one, too. In ´99, Jana was awarded golden at Slávik awards, later she was nominated in 11 categories at Aurel awards which are prestigious Slovak Music Academy Awards. Soon, Jana was ready to expand to Czech rep. and started to work with Czech musicians M. Horáček and P. Hapka on CD titled Mohlo by tu být i líp. She became well respected in Czech rep. mainly for an extraordinary ballad Bude mi lehká zem. The co-operation with Horáček and Hapka continued until ´06 when album Strážce plamene was released. Surprisingly, Jana has recorded a duet with Czech folk musician J. Nohavica for this CD. In ´02, Jana released Pelikán album.
After the release of Veci čo sa dejú in ´04, Jana was awarded The singer Of The Year. Her song Na čiernom koni became the best song in Slovakia along with the video directed by Ondrej Rudavský.
In ´05, Jana moved to London to work on her album Shine with excellent British producer Ross Cullum /famous for working with Tears for Fears, Enya, T. Amos, B. Ferry.../. CD Shine was released in ´07. Within another year, she has written a title song to Pokoj v duši, a very successful Slovak film (track notes unexpected commercial success). On May ´10 she released another Slovak album Krajina Rovina. There are no hesitations about its maturity, it reflects Jana as a tremendous musician and a strong personality with warm heart. She invited British musician and producer Eddie Stevens /Freakpower, Moloko, Roisin Murphy, Zero 7/ to work with her and the result of this co-operation is heard on Krajina Rovina.
